In recent decades, the editorials of academic journals, including highly established and newly found international journals in interdisciplinary engineering and information technology, have increased their subject focuses on Transdisciplinary Engineering (TE) research contributions. This workshop will invite TE2021 contributing authors (faculties, graduate students, and practitioners), who are keen on submitting their research in journal outlets, to interact with several senior international journal editors, publisher, and editorial board members (who are long-time supporters of TE research). The panel scholars will present their views and provide their suggestions for TE research and publications.

PROMOTING HUMAN SATISFACTION AND PROFIT THROUGH FLEXIBLE HIRING MODELS:  Monday 5th July 2021, 1500 – 1800 BST ***THIS WORKSHOP REQUIRES PRE-REGISTRATION. TO REGISTER CLICK HERE***

Professor Federico TRIGOS, Tecnologico de Monterrey, EGADE Business School and Dr Mario DORIA, Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico

In service industries personnel performance is key to achieve business excellence.  Until recently, forty to forty-eight hours per week labour contracts with equal daily schedules (eight hours per day) was the only way formal employees were hired in some countries. Recently, this trend has changed, and some countries started to allow work contracts with less weekly hours and flexible daily schedules. This offers some degrees of freedom to employees to work less than eight hours per day and non-necessarily having the same timetable every workday. The fabric of society is impacted since now work is at reach for many people who cannot work full time schedules for diverse reasons. This far reaching impact invites a transdisciplinary view of the ensuing challenges. The workshop will allow the participants the opportunity to explore the potential effects using mathematical programming modelling and finding solutions through state-of-the-art commercial software (temporary full functional licenses will be provided to participants) and contemplate sensitivity analysis scenarios for business resilience in a service industry instance.

This workshop is related to “Flexible hiring personnel models to promote human satisfaction and business profit for service industries”, which is a paper presentation in the conference.
